Cruise holidays are synonymous with cocktails. If you enjoy a drink, an exotic cocktail is exactly what you need to relax. If you love the atmosphere that a trendy bar provides, and like to pair your drink to suit the occasion, then you’ll appreciate this list of five ultra-chic cruise bars.
Ice Bar: Norwegian Cruise Line
Aboard the Norwegian Epic, the ice bar is certainly the coolest bar on the sea. Chilled to -8°C, the room is made of ice, the furniture is made of ice; and the room is decorated with (you guessed it) ice sculptures. This bar is one of only 14 ice bars in the world. Guests are provided with overcoats, gloves and beanies, so you don’t need to worry about catching a chill. It is, however recommended that you spend no more than 45 minutes in the bar. The Northern Lights cocktail comes highly recommended, containing vodka, Cointreau, and Blue Curacao. Alternatively, we’d recommend your favorite spirit, on the rocks, to stay on theme.
Veuve Cliquot Bar: Cunard’s Queen Mary 2
This isn’t strictly a cocktail bar, rather a champagne bar. Sip one of seven Veuve Cliquot champagnes from Waterford crystal flutes. This ultra luxurious bar is perfect for a special occasion, whether you’re on honeymoon or falling in love all over again.
Metropolis Bar: P&O
The bar features smooth jazz music, accompanied by an enormous cinema screen rolling images of city skylines from around the world. This ambient room has a sophisticated feel, perfect for pairing with one of the seven themed cocktails, which are inspired by the city skylines. Why not try an Asian Daisy (inspired by Shanghai); gin shaken with kiwi liqueur. Or perhaps a Pimms Cup; Pimms No. 1 mixed with ginger ale and a splash of lime. Wherever you’re going, there’s a cocktail to match your destination.
Rising Tide Bar: Royal Caribbean International
This bar is built on a lift, and essentially levitates between floors, through the atrium of the ship. A fun idea, the “ride” usually takes about 20 minutes, so no need to worry about motion sickness. Accompany this cute bar with a cosmopolitan, something delicious but not too serious.
The Molecular Bar: Celebrity Cruises
If you like the idea of your cocktail being prepared by a mixologist in a lab coat while wearing protective goggles, you’ll love the Molecular Bar. Part science experiment, part genius, expect your cocktail to come whipped with liquid nitrogen, to keep it cool and refreshing. The bar also boasts an excellent wine menu.
Unwinding with your drink of choice is the perfect way to kick start your cruise. Why not check out one of these highly acclaimed bars next time you’re choosing a cruise holiday. Visit a cruise specialist such as Cruiseabout Australia to learn more about the cruise lines available.
